Time To Complete

The California Department of Real Estate allows a course to be completed in a minimum time of 2 1/2 weeks per course (18 calendar days) from the date you receive your material. The maximum time allowed for completion of your course(s) is 1 year from the date of enrollment. Completion of the course means taking and passing the course final examination on or before the expiration date of the course. Courses may be completed within the time frames listed below:

1 Course – 2 ½ weeks

2 Courses – 5 weeks

3 Courses – 7 ½ weeks

4 Courses – 10 weeks

5 Courses – 12 ½ weeks

6 Courses – 15 weeks

7 Courses – 17 ½ weeks

8 Courses – 20 weeks

Once you have successfully completed the eight required courses, you will then be ready to apply for the state exam. It takes approximately 6 to 8 weeks for DRE to process your application and schedule your test date. The state exam is administered at several locations throughout the state (Oakland, Sacramento, Fresno, Los Angeles, and San Diego). The state exam consists of 200 multiple choice questions. You must score 75% or better to pass.

Using a California real estate license school will be the quickest way to complete all the courses as you’ll be given instant access. Classes can also be worked on during your free time and not based on a classroom schedule format.
