Overview

Broker License: Time To Complete

The Department of Real Estate (DRE) allows a course to be completed in a minimum time of 2 1/2 weeks (18 calendar days) from the date you receive your material. The maximum time allowed for completion of your course(s) is 1 year from the date of enrollment. Completion of the course means taking and passing the course final examination on or before the expiration date of the course. Courses may be completed within the time frames listed below:

5 Courses 12 1/2 weeks

6 Courses 15 weeks

7 Courses 17 1/2 weeks

8 Courses 20 weeks

Once you have successfully completed the eight required courses, you will then be ready to apply for the state exam. It takes approximately four to six weeks for the Department of Real Estate to schedule your test date. The state exam is administered at several locations throughout the state (Oakland, Sacramento, Fresno, Los Angeles, and San Diego). The state exam consists of 200 multiple choice questions. You must score 75% or better to pass.
